Sineng Electric, a global leader in solar, energy storage, and hydrogen solutions, has successfully delivered central inverters for two utility-scale PV projects in Algeria, with a combined capacity of 154 MW. The projects comprise a 52.8 MW installation in Beni Ounif, Béchar Province, and a 101.2 MW installation in Ain Baida, Ouargla Province. Located in desert-adjacent regions, both projects represent a significant step forward in Algeria’s large-scale renewable energy deployment.
For the final customer SONELGAZ EnR, this project is being developed and constructed by Amimer Energie as notable local and regional EPC contractor, the projects incorporate advanced N-type TOPCon bifacial PV modules in combination with Sineng Electric’s 8.8 MW MV turnkey stations (EP-8800-HB-UD/30) and 4.4 MW MV turnkey stations (EP-4400-HB-UD/30), enabling optimized system performance across the plant.
Sineng Electric’s solar energy solutions are engineered to withstand the demanding environmental conditions typical of desert installations. Featuring an IP65 protection rating, they ensure strong resilience against sand and dust. An advanced two-phase heat exchange and intelligent temperature control system enables full-power operation without derating at temperatures up to 51°C. Equipped with four MPPTs, the inverters maximize energy yield, while a higher DC/AC ratio contributes to reduced LCOE. With integrated SVG functionality and continuous LVRT and HVRT capabilities, the inverters ensure stable grid support even under weak grid conditions.
Upon commissioning, the two projects are expected to generate approximately 340 million kWh of clean electricity annually, offsetting around 255,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year—equivalent to the environmental impact of planting 25.5 million trees. In addition, the projects are also expected to create approximately 1,500 local jobs, contributing to regional economic development.
As part of Algeria’s national renewable energy program targeting 15 GW of installed capacity by 2035, the projects play a pivotal role in diversifying the country’s energy mix, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and accelerating the decarbonization of the power sector. It also contributes to the broader expansion of renewable energy across North Africa.
Sineng Electric remains committed to supporting the global energy transition by delivering high-performance, reliable, and innovative solutions tailored to diverse application scenarios worldwide.
