Solis Lighting the Way for a Sustainable Energy Future in Ghana
20 Oct 2023

Ginlong (Solis), the most experienced photovoltaic (PV) inverter manufacturer and the world’s third-largest player (Stock code: 300763.S.Z), is making significant strides in advancing the transition to clean energy across African nations. The latest recipient of Solis’ cutting-edge PV inverter technology is Ghana. At the recent Power & Energy Ghana Expo, Solis showcased its suite of string inverters, designed to cater to single-phase and three-phase applications while offering the flexibility to run multiple inverters in parallel.

The expo presentation highlighted the S6 Advanced Power Hybrid Inverter, an innovative solution packed with a diverse range of industry-leading features. These attributes encompass peak shaving, self-consumption optimization, integrated generator port control, Bluetooth connectivity, a robust monitoring platform, and compatibility with lithium batteries. This makes it a versatile and adaptable choice for any solar energy system.

Ghana’s energy landscape is currently dominated by hydropower and thermal sources, driven by oil, natural gas, and diesel. Surprisingly, solar energy constitutes less than 1% of the total installed capacity, which stands at 5,134MW. Thermal generation accounts for 66%, while hydropower makes up 33%. However, Ghana is committed to increasing its renewable energy share to 20% within the energy mix, prompting plans to establish solar parks in suitable regions. The government is actively working on incentives to attract manufacturers, assemblers, and operators in this growing sector, as demonstrated at the Power & Energy Ghana Expo, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Trade & Investment.

As the 3rd PV inverter manufacturer globally, Solis is well-equipped to assist Ghana in its shift towards cleaner energy sources. With a steadfast commitment to its mission of “Developing technology to power the world with clean energy,” the Solis team present at the expo made the most of every opportunity to engage with customers. Babalwa Bungane, Deputy Africa Market Manager at Solis, shared her thoughts on the expo’s success: “The highlight of this expo was that most of our customers were already familiar with our brand, and the conversations flowed smoothly as they were eager to learn more about our latest product offerings.”

Solis’ participation in the Power & Energy Ghana Expo underscores the company’s commitment to advancing Ghana’s energy transition pathways and fostering the adoption of clean, sustainable energy sources in the region.
