Electricity demand in Africa is projected to triple by 2030, If it is to achieve universal access to electricity, Africa needs to radically increase its renewable energy investment in power generation from the current $30-billion to $120-billion by 2040, according to IEA. In terms of energy access, East Africa is the most affected region of the continent.
