Engie Energy Access launches its first mini-grid in Nigeria – connecting a local community to electricity for the first time.
This 90kW mini-grid brings electricity to the people of Gbangba community in Niger State and empowers over 300 customers, including households and small businesses. Over 1,500 lives will be impacted with clean energy.
The mini-grid combines green infrastructure with smart capabilities and mobile money for remote monitoring, customer service and payments. It represents further progress in the African mini-grid space as it expands access to energy to a previously grid-deficient community.
April was a successful month overall for the Nigeria team as it reached the incredible milestone of connecting 60,000 households to clean, solar energy – in turn impacting 300,000 lives across Nigeria!
