ARC Power Signs FUSE Agreement with Kiyona Energy to Accelerate Solar Generation in Zambia
16 Jun 2026

ARC Power has signed a FUSE Agreement with Kiyona Energy, targeting an initial US$60m investment, marking a significant step forward in accelerating solar generation infrastructure across Zambia. The agreement is designed to deliver more affordable, reliable, and clean power to communities and businesses throughout the country.

FUSE – the Framework Agreement for Utility Scale Electrification – is ARC Power’s innovative commercial and operational model for grid concessions that embeds smart technology from the outset to attract and deploy private capital. With the support of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the FUSE model provides a pre-financed, scalable framework that removes the most significant barriers to energy access in Sub-Saharan Africa, including funding limitations, infrastructure capacity, and utility delivery constraints.

The agreement with Kiyona Energy will focus on expanding solar generation capacity, connecting homes and businesses to a more resilient and sustainable grid. By integrating grid-tied solar at scale, the partnership aims to reduce reliance on costlier and less sustainable generation sources, improving energy affordability and reliability for end users.

With IFC’s support, the FUSE Agreement is structured to scale and evolve in alignment with Zambia’s national energy plans, providing the flexibility to respond to growing demand and changing grid conditions over time.

Karl Boyce, CEO of ARC Power, said:

“This agreement with Kiyona Energy is the start of what we expect to be a long-term and highly impactful partnership in Zambia. The FUSE model is specifically designed to grow with the market – it provides the structure and flexibility to scale investment in solar generation in a way that is aligned to Zambia’s energy plans and the real needs of communities and businesses on the ground.

We have the foundation to move quickly and scale responsively, aligned to Zambia’s Mission 300 targets. This is not a one-off project – it is the first step in a long-term programme to accelerate affordable, clean, and reliable power across Zambia.”
