Criteria

UTILITY SCALE SOLAR PROJECT OF THE YEAR
  • project must be located in Africa
  • project must be a grid-connected project with national utility as off-taker
  • project must have been commissioned between September 12th 2024 and September 11th 2025
C&I SOLAR PROJECT OF THE YEAR
  • project must be located in Africa
  • project must be a grid-connected or stand-alone solar system with one or multiple commercial or industrial off-taker(s)
  • project may include solar only, solar + storage or any other hybrid system including solar technologies
  • project must have been commissioned between September 12th 2024 and September 11th 2025
MINI-GRID PROJECT OF THE YEAR
  • project must be located in Africa
  • project may be a single mini-grid project or a group of mini-grids
  • project must involve 1 single point of power generation comprising of a solar component and multiple electricity users (residential, commercial and/or productive uses)
  • project must have been commissioned between September 12th 2024 and September 11th 2025
SHS COMPANY OF THE YEAR
  • company must be active in energy access activities through manufacturing, financing, distribution or any key enabling services for pico-solar and/or SHS products
  • company must be legally registered in at least 1 African country
STORAGE PROJECT OF THE YEAR
  • project must be located in Africa
  • project must have a storage component or be a storage-only project
  • project may be grid-connected or stand-alone
  • the storage component may be based on any kind of technology
  • project must have been commissioned between September 12th 2024 and September 11th 2025
AFRICAN SOLAR & STORAGE COMPANY OF THE YEAR
  • company may be active in any type of activity across the solar & storage value chain and may focus on any segment (large-scale, C&I, mini-grid, SHS, irrigation, cooking, …)
  • company must have headquarter legally registered in 1 African country
  • both new and established companies may apply
  • companies of all sizes may apply
INNOVATION OF THE YEAR
  • innovation may pertain to a product, a system or a service across the solar or storage value chain
  • innovation must have a direct and clear application to the African continent
  • innovation may exist for a long time but must have made tangible and verifiable breakthrough between September 12th 2024 and September 11th 2025
SOLAR TECHNOLOGY PROVIDER OF THE YEAR
  • company may be active in any type of technology-related activity across the solar value chain (OEM, EPC, consultant, digital solutions, …)
  • company may be legally registered anywhere in the world but must have provided the technology in at least 1 project commissioned in an African country
  • technology must have been implemented before September 11th 2025
STORAGE TECHNOLOGY PROVIDER OF THE YEAR
  • company may be active in any type of technology-related activity across the storage value chain (OEM, EPC, consultant, digital solutions, …)
  • company may be legally registered in any country but must have provided the technology in at least 1 project commissioned in an African country
  • technology must have been implemented before September 11th 2025
DEAL OR FINANCING PROGRAM OF THE YEAR
  • company may be legally established in any country
  • company must have been involved in transaction about a project based in or a company legally established in at least 1 African country
  • transaction may be governed by traditional or non-traditional financing principles such as impact investment, crowdfunding/lending, concessional financing, grants, micro-financing, …
  • transaction must have taken place between September 12th 2024 and September 11th 2025

ADVISOR OF THE YEAR

  • company may be legally established in any country
  • company must have been financial/legal/technical advisor or consultant to a project based in or a company legally established in at least 1 African country
  • advisory or consultancy service must have taken place between September 12th 2024 and September 11th 2025
PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION OF THE YEAR
  • applicant must be a national or international public entity (ministry, agency, institution, association, …)
  • applicant may be legally established in any country
  • applicant must have public service provided in at least 1 African country
VISUAL OF THE YEAR
  • visuals of any type are accepted (picture, video, …)
  • visual must have been captured in Africa or have a direct link with Africa
  • AI-generated visuals are authorized
  • File size maximum 10 GB
  • videos may not be longer than 3 minutes
  • applicant must be legal right owner of the visual material
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
  • applicant must have demonstrated long-term commitment and tangible efforts to supporting and advancing the use of solar energy in Africa
  • applicant may be based anywhere in the world
  • possible to nominate self or someone else
