Job Purpose
To drive growth of the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) business by identifying, developing, and
converting new business opportunities into revenue. The role is responsible for prospecting, customer
engagement, solution development, commercial proposal preparation, pipeline management, and
disciplined execution of business development activities to achieve assigned sales targets and
contribute to sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Opportunity Generation
• Identify, qualify, and pursue new C&I business opportunities across target market segments.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, developers,
EPCs, and other key stakeholders.
• Conduct market visits and prospecting activities to generate qualified leads.
• Gather market intelligence on customer requirements, competitor activity, and emerging
opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities to support the achievement of
business targets.
2. Sales Pipeline & Opportunity Conversion
• Own and manage assigned opportunities from qualification through to commercial closure.
• Develop opportunity strategies to maximize conversion.
• Conduct regular follow-up with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Negotiate within approved commercial limits.
• Drive achievement of assigned annual business development targets.
3. Proposal & Solution Development
• Coordinate preparation of technical and commercial proposals.
• Develop customer presentations and commercial solution summaries.
• Ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and submitted within agreed timelines.
• Coordinate internal technical and commercial approvals.
4. Customer Relationship Management
• Build and maintain productive customer relationships.
• Conduct customer meetings, presentations, and solution discussions.
• Respond promptly to customer enquiries and commitments.
• Identify opportunities for repeat business and cross-selling.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Operations, and other stakeholders to
develop customer solutions.
• Coordinate timely inputs required for proposal preparation and commercial submissions.
• Support seamless handover of awarded projects to implementation teams.
6. Reporting & Commercial Governance
• Maintain accurate pipeline and opportunity records within the CRM.
• Submit weekly pipelines, activity, and sales reports.
• Monitor progress against assigned targets and identify commercial risks.
• Provide regular sales forecasts and business updates.
Key Operating Expectations
The role holder is expected to:
• Spend the majority of working time actively engaging customers and developing new business
opportunities.
• Maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities at all times.
• Conduct planned customer visits and business development activities each week.
• Ensure every customer engagement results in documented follow-up actions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM and pipeline records.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Represent Chloride Exide Ltd at industry events to identify and cultivate strategic
partnerships.
• Work collaboratively across functions to remove barriers and progress opportunities.
• Demonstrate ownership, responsiveness, and timely execution of all assigned
responsibilities.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in, Engineering, business, Renewable Energy, or a related field. PMP & T3
is an added advantage.
2. 5+ years of experience in business development or technical sales, ideally in the energy or solar
sector.
3. Solid understanding of the regional energy landscape, including policy, regulation, and rural
electrification initiatives.
4. Experience in solution selling, proposal development, and customer relationship
management.
5. Proven track record in driving growth and closing deals in B2B and/or B2C markets.
6. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop and convert business opportunities.
7. Strong network within the renewable energy ecosystem in the region & surrounding region is a
significant advantage.
