GoodWe Solar Energy Transforms Learning at Kihato Primary School in Kenya
25 Sep 2025

GoodWe, in partnership with Nabico Enterprises and Peponi Primary School, has brought clean and reliable solar energy to Kihato Primary School in Naro Moru, Laikipia County. The project marks a milestone in improving access to education for over 250 students who now benefit from uninterrupted learning powered by sustainable solar energy.

Kihato Primary School, which serves pre-primary, primary, and junior secondary learners from surrounding communities, has long struggled with the challenges of unreliable grid electricity. Frequent outages, high electricity costs, and inadequate lighting forced students to leave school early, while teachers were unable to prepare lessons after dark. For families in the area, poor road access and limited public transport compounded the daily difficulties, while safety concerns grew whenever power was unavailable.

To address these challenges, GoodWe donated a 5 kW ES G2 inverter paired with 10 kWh of Lynx A batteries, providing the school with consistent power supply throughout the day and night. Installed by Nabico Enterprises, the system now powers classrooms, improves security, and ensures that both students and teachers have the resources to excel.

“The positive impact of this solar system has been immediate and visible. For the first time, teachers can now dedicate more time to lesson planning, students are able to extend their study hours, and the school community feels a renewed sense of safety and hope. Access to reliable electricity has transformed Kihato Primary into a place where learning thrives and every student has the chance to pursue a brighter future,” said Mr. Ephantus Wahome, Head Teacher at Kihato Primary School.

This initiative reflects GoodWe’s long-term vision of supporting communities in Africa with dependable solar solutions. By combining advanced inverter technology with energy storage, GoodWe continues to demonstrate how renewable energy can create lasting social impact while addressing real challenges faced by schools and institutions. It also directly advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, reinforcing the role of clean energy in building a better future.
