Overview: 

As the Regional Head of Solar business at Chloride Exide Ltd, you will be responsible for achieving solar sales growth in line with strategic and shareholder expectations, driving growth across residential, commercial & industrial (C&I), utility-scale, off-grid, and mini-grid solar markets. This role involves managing the existing sales structure and performance, whilst identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and developing strategic sales platforms to enhance market penetration and revenue growth. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of solar energy projects and the achievement of business objectives.

Strategy & Growth

  • Responsible for managing the entire group’s solar sales resources and leading this team to achieve forecast results.
  • Implementation of the business’ solar growth strategy across East Africa.
  • Identify new markets, partnerships, and product opportunities.
  • Drive revenue and market share growth across all solar segments. 

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and secure high-value solar opportunities across multiple market segments including residential, C&I, and utility-scale.
  • Build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including developers, financiers, government bodies, and international partners.
  • Lead client acquisition and relationship management with key accounts and partners.
  • Develop winning proposals, RFP responses, and partnership frameworks.
  • Oversee pipeline management, forecasting, and deal closure across the team.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and addressing any issues or concerns. 

Team Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team of over 40 professionals across sales, engineering, and project implementation.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a national team of business development professionals.
  • Drive continuous team development through coaching, training, and performance management. 

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customers’ needs to inform strategy and innovation
  • Provide market feedback to the technical team for continuous improvement and innovation of solar energy products.
  • Represent Chloride Exide at key industry forums and conferences.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. Certification in project management is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior sales role, along with business development Relative experience within the renewable energy industry will be an added advantage
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing business strategies that drive revenue growth.
  • Experience in managing complex projects and working with cross-functional teams.
