About the Role
The Lead, Warehousing and Logistics will oversee the end-to-end operations of SunFi’s warehousing and logistics activities to ensure seamless product storage, inventory management, and delivery. This includes optimizing warehouse layouts, managing transportation logistics, and maintaining equipment to improve operational efficiency. The role requires ensuring that safety, quality, and compliance standards are met while keeping costs under control. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, logistical expertise, and a deep understanding of warehouse management processes. The role will be office-based with occasional travel to warehouses.
Responsibilities
Logistics Operations and Shipment Tracking
- Oversee the logistics and transportation of solar components from OEMs to project sites or warehouses.
- Manage relationships with logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. ● Monitor and address logistics challenges, such as shipment delays, damaged goods, and order discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed records of shipment schedules and compliance with regulations. ● Track and report delivery timelines, ensuring adherence to project schedules.
Warehouse Management
- Implement inventory management systems to track stock levels, reduce waste, and avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Design and maintain efficient warehouse layouts for effective storage and easy access to products.
- Adjust layouts as necessary to improve workflow, reduce handling time, and optimize space utilization.
- Ensure all warehouse equipment is maintained and operational.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment warranties and compliance documents. ● Enforce workplace safety protocols and ensure compliance with local regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular safety audits and emergency preparedness drills.
- Ensure that warehouse operations meet all environmental and quality standards.
Supplier and Vendor Coordination
- Collaborate with suppliers to manage deliveries and maintain strong relationships. ● Monitor vendor performance and address issues proactively to maintain service standards.
- Negotiate logistics and warehousing service agreements to minimize costs while ensuring reliability and quality.
Cost Management and Efficiency
- Develop and manage the warehousing and logistics budget, ensuring cost efficiency. ● Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements and vendor negotiations.
- Use performance metrics (e.g., turnaround time, logistics costs) to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and train warehouse staff, including logistics coordinators and warehouse assistants.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. ● Evaluate team performance against KPIs and implement development plans for improvement.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with engineering, product development, and sales teams to ensure alignment on product specifications and project timelines.
Soft and Technical Skills:
- Expertise in logistics, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in facility management software, inventory tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities.
- Experience with international shipping, customs clearance, and transportation logistics. ● Familiarity with renewable energy components and systems is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management & Logistics, or a related field. ● 5+ years of experience in warehousing and logistics management, preferably in the renewable energy or manufacturing sector.
- Certification in logistics or warehouse operations
- Knowledge of warehouse safety and compliance standards (HSE certification preferred). ● Experience managing small to medium-scale warehouse operations.
