About this role

The Lead Document Controller will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an efficient document control system for renewable energy projects in South Africa. This role involves supervising a team of document controllers, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to the overall success of the projects through meticulous document management.

Goals and responsibilities

  • Develop and implement document control procedures and workflows for renewable energy projects.
  • Oversee the creation, review, distribution, and archiving of project documentation.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all project documents.
  • Lead and manage a team of document controllers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Allocate tasks, set priorities, and ensure the team meets project deadlines.
  • Implement and manage document control software/systems to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and technology advancements in document control.
  • Establish and enforce document control standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify the effectiveness of the document control system.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand document requirements and deadlines.
  • Facilitate communication between different project teams and ensure consistent document control practices.
  • Conduct training sessions for project teams on document control processes and best practices.
  • Keep team members informed about updates to document control procedures and systems.

Required skills and educational background

  • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in document control on large infrastructure or renewable energy projects
  • Familiarity with renewable energy projects and the South African regulatory environment.
  • Proficient in document control software and systems
  • Proficient in procurement management tools and Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Information
