Morocco is arguably the North African country that has made the most effort towards creating a national solar energy industry. Morocco has no fossil fuel reserves, so it is almost entirely reliant on imports. To mitigate this, in 2015 King Mohammed VI committed the country to increasing its share of renewable electricity generation to 52% by 2030.
