The solar system will provide 55% of the daytime power needs of Nexans Kabelmetal Ghana while remaining connected to the grid and other power sources.
Daystar Power has commissioned a 532kWp grid-tied solar system at the Tema factory of Nexans, a leader in the design and manufacturing of cable systems and energy solutions.
Daystar Power installed 918 PV modules in a fully ground-mounted system, its first in Ghana. The system generates 47.7 MWh of electricity per year, providing 55% of daytime power. The solar system seamlessly integrates with grid power and generators using an ENcombi controller to ensure 99.9% uptime and allow for preventive maintenance.
“Companies in Ghana face the pressing need to decarbonise their operations. Nexans is a great example of how companies can adopt solar energy to meet their carbon emissions targets and drive energy cost savings,” said Victor Ezenwoko, Ghana Country Head of Daystar Power, “We couldn’t be prouder to have our first ground-mounted system in Ghana located in the country’s leading manufacturing hub.”
This new solar system that will partly power its Ghana factory’s operations reflects Nexans’ commitment to decarbonising its global operations.
“At Nexans Kabelmetal, we are committed to integrating sustainable energy solutions into our operations, and this new solar system is a significant step towards achieving our environmental goals. Our partnership with Daystar Power exemplifies our dedication to innovation and sustainability as we work towards our goal of net-zero emissions by 2050” said Alexander Quarcoopome, CEO of Nexans Kabelmetal.
