Prof. Da Silva is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Professor at the Research and Innovation Department of Strathmore University in Kenya.

His experience in renewable energy spans more than 20 years working in research and academic leadership. He has been working with Government Ministries, Development Agencies such as GIZ, Sida, the World Bank, etc… His key areas of interest are Rural Electrification, Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Energy Policy, Sustainable Development, and Demand Side Management. He has written quite extensively in these fields.

Next to his role at Strathmore University, Prof. Da Silva also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Kenya Climate Innovation Centre (KCIC), the World Energy Council – Kenya (WEC), and Ofgen Kenya.
In 2013, he was honored by the Brazilian Government with the title of “Comendador da Ordem do Rio Branco” for services towards education and poverty alleviation in Africa.
