Dr. Harald Schützeichel has founded companies and organisations in the field of decentralised renewable energies in Europe, Africa and Asia. Since 2003, he has been active in development cooperation projects with his own foundation (Stiftung Solarenergie). The focus of his work is on East Africa and Southeast Asia.

Since 2020, he coordinates and manages the Startup|Energy programme of the Stiftung Solarenergie and the University of Freiburg to promote regional and international exchange between startups in the field of decentralised, renewable energy supply in D-A-CH and East Africa.

Together with the World Bank and other partners, he founded the industry association GOGLA (Global Off-Grid Lighting Association) and, as its first president, accompanied its development into the leading industry association.

From 1997 to 2003, Harald Schützeichel was a founding CEO of SAG Solarstrom AG, the first public listed solar company in Germany.
