About this role
The Site Electrical Engineer is responsible for the monitoring, implementation and supervision of the installation electrical systems and components in renewable energy construction projects. This role involves ensuring the electrical works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and standards. The Site Electrical Engineer will work closely with other engineering disciplines and construction teams to contribute to the successful delivery of renewable energy projects.
Duties and responsibilities
Design and Planning
- Review electrical design plans, specifications, and drawings.
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with industry standards, local regulations, and project requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for electrical systems.
Project Implementation
- Monitor the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems and components.
- Coordinate with construction teams to ensure electrical works are integrated smoothly into the overall project.
- Monitor progress and ensure electrical activities adhere to project timelines and budgets.
Technical Support
- Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams and contractors.
- Assist in resolving technical issues and challenges encountered during construction.
- Ensure that all electrical solutions are feasible and align with project objectives.
Quality
- Conduct inspections and tests on electrical installations to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Document and report any quality issues, and coordinate with the project team to implement corrective actions.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
- Ensure all electrical activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Implement and enforce safe work practices and procedures.
Coordination and Communication
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project coordination.
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and updates to the electrical engineering supervisor and other relevant parties.
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on electrical engineering aspects of the project.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all electrical engineering activities, including daily logs, progress reports, and inspection reports.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on project status, highlighting any issues or delays.
- Ensure all project documentation is properly filed and accessible.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on the latest developments and best practices in electrical engineering and renewable energy.
- Recommend and implement improvements to electrical designs, processes, and procedures.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required skills and education background.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, ECSA registered.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant practical experience in electrical engineering, preferably within the renewable energy or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, construction methods, and industry standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in electrical design software and tools.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
