Role Overview:
The Customs Clearance Senior Officer is responsible for facilitating and coordinating the customs clearance process for both import and export shipments. The job holder works closely with internal teams, customs authorities, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with customs regulations and the efficient clearance of goods.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the validation and accuracy of customs documentation, including declarations, commercial invoices, and packing lists, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Classify products under appropriate customs tariff codes and ensure precise declaration of goods.
• Maintain strict adherence to customs regulations, import/export requirements, and relevant trade agreements to ensure seamless operations.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to facilitate timely submission of clearance documents and ensure smooth customs processes.
• Serve as the primary liaison with customs authorities, tracking clearance progress, resolving inquiries, and addressing compliance concerns.
• Manage customs inspections, audits, and additional clearance requirements, ensuring all procedural guidelines are met.
• Maintain comprehensive records of customs activities, including permits, licenses, and regulatory certificates, to support transparency and compliance.
• Prepare reports detailing customs clearance activities, duty and tax payments, and any regulatory challenges encountered.
• Establish an organized record-keeping system for customs documentation and essential compliance materials.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams—logistics, operations, and sales—to gather critical information for seamless customs clearance.
• Engage with external stakeholders, including customs authorities, freight forwarders, and customers, to address clearance-related concerns and optimize processes.
• Foster positive relationships with customs officials and industry partners to enhance operational efficiency and regulatory adherence.
• Stay informed on evolving customs regulations, procedures, and compliance requirements to adapt processes accordingly.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement within customs operations, implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Participate in training programs and workshops to strengthen expertise in customs compliance, documentation, and regulatory procedures.

Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in customs regulations is a plus.
• 5-7 years of experience in customs clearance, import/export operations, or a similar role in the freight forwarding industry.
• Well-versed in customs laws, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal). Additional languages may be advantageous.
• Fluency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and general internet navigation and research skills.
