The Bokpoort CSP plant (50 MW, 9.3 hours of thermal storage) has recently achieved 13 days of continuous operation, showing that solar power backed up with thermal energy storage can provide dispatchable renewable power on demand.
This is important news for countries trying to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy mix whilst enhancing the reliability of supply. Unlike many sources of renewable energy, CSP with thermal energy storage is available to provide power whenever demand requires it, even at night or during cloudy periods.
In this webinar, experts in CSP will provide in-depth insights into how it is possible for this technology to reliably provide clean energy over long periods of time.
