SUMMARY:Renpower Burkina Faso
DESCRIPTION:Among the prime speakers in the program will be H.E. Dr. Bachir Ismael Ouedraogo – Minister of Energy of Burkina Faso and Dr. Bruno Korgo – General Director for Renewable Energies at the Ministry. There is a strong involvement of the authorities in this event and all the key local stakeholders and relevant International Financial Institutions will attend and be available for networking with the conference participants. \nA hub of renewable energies – Burkina Faso is one of the least electrified countries globally\, currently at 19% overall\, with 60% of the urban and only 3% of the rural population connected to electricity. In a country where 19 million inhabitants have no access to electricity\, having a reliable\, cheap and efficient energy supply is crucial. The country is facing a rapid increase in domestic energy demand and other sectors including those of industry\, transport and urban domestic demand. \nThe Government of Burkina Faso has set forth a bold national plan and has taken steps to introduce legislation to encourage private sector investment and to liberalize electricity generation and distribution. This is resulting in a huge potential for investment and technology cooperation for both the grid and off-grid needs. The country is currently opening its doors and welcoming project developers\, investors and other market participants. \nMore info here

SUMMARY:SOLAR AFRICA 2019
DESCRIPTION:The overwhelming response from the Solar Industry has encouraged Expogroup to launch “SOLAR AFRICA” and after successful editions in Kenya and Tanzania Solar Africa is all set to step in the Ethiopian Market. \nSolar Africa in Ethiopia will be held concurrently with Power &Energy Africa from 21st to 23rd March 2019. \nThe region offers tremendous opportunities to suppliers worldwide\, having among the strongest solar resources in the world. In particular\, the region offers excellent potential for concentrated solar power (CSP) and concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) systems. \nSolar photovoltaics are being promoted to replace fuel-based lighting and off-grid electrical needs. Ethiopia is thought to have about 5 MW of off-grid solar. Almost all current solar power is used for telecommunications. Other uses include village well pumps\, health care and school lighting. A current government initiative plans to bring solar power to 150\,000 households. The first phase included 1 MW of panels. The first large installation of solar was a village grid of 10 kW in 1985\, expanded to 30 kW in 1989. A solar panel assembly plant opened in Addis Ababa in early 2013 capable of making 20 MW of panel per year. \nMany African countries are currently exploring the use of solar and other renewable energy\, with Ethiopia being a strong market for Solar industry and is currently focusing on developing the same. The Government is also being very supportive by allowing solar products to enter the country duty free. \nMore info here

SUMMARY:3RD POWER TECH AFRICA
DESCRIPTION:The renewable energy potential in East African market is extensive as Africa is home to vast renewable resources\, including geothermal\, wind\, hydro and solar energy. \nKenya has promising potential for power generation from renewable energy sources. Abundant solar\, hydro\, wind\, biomass and geothermal resources led the government to seek the expansion of renewable energy generation to central and rural areas. \nElectricity demand in East Africa is projected to triple by 2030. Power demand in Kenya is rising considerably due to the country’s economic growth. Investment in renewable technologies will be essential to the strategic diversification of the energy sources needed to meet this demand\, and renewable energy in Kenya is poised to expand exponentially over the next decade. \nKenya aims to produce 19\,200 MW against a demand of 15\,000 MW by 2030. Kenya’s population is expected to grow from 49 million to about 90 million people by 2050. Since only about 40% of the population now has reliable electricity service\, about 1\,500 miles of new transmission lines are under construction\, with plans for an additional 3\,600 miles.Renewable energy in Kenya is making the dream of achieving Vision 2030 a real possibility. \nWith this insight and the ensuing opportunities in the neighbouring countries of Uganda\, Rwanda\, Ethiopia and Tanzania\, Bricsa Consulting is committed to host the 3rd Annual PowerTech Africa\, a 2 day exclusive closed-door gathering of senior renewable practitioners from both public and private sectors across the world with a keen interest to participate in the growth and development opportunities in the region. We look forward to welcoming the interested participants to share the platform and be a part of the elite gathering looking towards a positive outcome. \nMore info here

SUMMARY:UNLOCKING SOLAR CAPITAL: AFRICA
DESCRIPTION:Africa is quickly becoming one of the most significant regions in the global expansion of the solar PV industry. The high levels of solar irradiation\, extreme (and growing) energy demand with 600 million Africans not yet served by up-to-date electricity solutions and an increasing amount of renewable energy related commitments by governments in the region are just some of the factors that are sparking growing interest from local businesses and international stakeholders alike. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnlocking Solar Capital Africa 2018 will bring together hundreds of representatives from development banks\, investment funds\, solar developers\, IPPs\, EPCs & other stakeholders. 350+ decision makers will gather to engage in extensive discussions to solve Africa’s solar energy funding gap – and get projects realized. \nMore info here
